Conventional wisdom has been that you can't have extreme, radical performance in a forged iron. Conventional wisdom couldn't be more wrong. Behold, X HOT distance in a forged iron. The multi-material construction in this iron makes it longer with the combination of feel and a TOUR look. Tungsten weighted inserts in the sole of the long irons produce a lower CG, higher launch angles and maximum forgiveness. The thin 455 Carpenter Steel Face Insert increases ball speeds 1-2mph for more distance and the new high performance wide space groove delivers more consistent spin from a variety of lies.

New True Temper XP95 steel shaft delivers high launch
angles with a controlled ball flight for lightweight
premium performance.
UST Recoil is a lightweight graphite shaft with higher
flex points, resulting in great feel and workability.

increasing launch angles. It?s level
of playability you wouldn?t expect from a forged iron.

More consistent spin and pinpoint control from
every lie.

It delivers the soft, responsive feel that players
demand from a forged club.

I had the great pleasure to get fit for a set of APEX irons yesterday by David Wheeler at the CPC in Orlando, Fl. Now I was convinced I needed the APEX pro irons but put my trust in David to be fit properly. We tried many different shafts and even though I have KBS C tapers in my current set and I thought I was going to leave with the new KBS Tour V, David proved to me that they were not the best Shaft for my current swing speed and shaft loading. The APEX was amazingly easy to hit and once we had the right shaft at least a club longer and with a really great swing two clubs longer than my forged MB irons and even my misses were past were I was hiting my current irons and still just off line. I normally hit my current 6 iron 160-165 yds, and the APEX was at least 170 on the misses, the good swings were 175- 180+ yds and dead on line. We worked with the APEX pro a bit but he did not have his fitting head in yet (only a stock 6 iron in stiff) so I only hit the new KBS shaft, it was nice and felt great but with my swing it did not perfrom as well as the APEX. I am too old and inconsistent to do the APEX pro justice. Now the wait for the new clubs to come in.

I have been waiting for Callaway to forge the X series club. It is their principle shape and, I believe/know, that if they forged that old X14 head, and threw a little of the 16, 18 and 24 in there, they would have made it to the "top of Everest". I mean that is the Apex right? Who is their most prolific player? Annika... What did she play with? X-14s and X-16s. I thought that was why they hired Roger Cleveland: To forge the X series heads. You know, clean up the topline a little, but not to deviate from that bread and "butter" shape they have. I thought they had done it with Apex, they look like the X24s from the back, but from down the top line these look like the very first Big Bertha irons, a rectangle at the bottom of an expensive stick. Sorry yall' I just think you can do a lot better.

3rd set of Apex irons.

By Mike

Comments about Callaway Apex Irons 5-PW- w/UST Recoil Graphite Shafts:

I'm retired and play 200+ rounds each year. I bought my 1st set of Apex in 2014. I new then I had found the club for me. I upgraded the clubs through Callaway Preowned in late 2015 and again this year (going to the UST 110 graphite shafts). My next upgrade will probably be in 2017 to a set of Apex through Callaway preowned.

Comments about Callaway Apex Irons 5-PW- w/UST Recoil Graphite Shafts:

After one long practice session and one round I love these 2015 Apex irons. They look good, feel great and are easy to hit. Did I say they are long? I'm 6'5" and 65 but still swing 105 with a driver so I chose the True Temper XP-95's, Stiff, 2"upright and 2" over length. They feel light yet substantial with a nice solid feel at contact but are very forgiving ifI miss the sweet spot. Even with the customizations I had them within a week. I've never owned and Callaway product till now but I'm sold on the company and the great website and service levels. Think I'll be playing these for a very long time!

    solid dependable irons

Comments about Callaway Apex Irons 5-PW- w/UST Recoil Graphite Shafts:

I have played the Razor blacks, then Xhots and now am playing the Apex irons. Overall the Apex and xhots feel very similar to me. My distances are about the same. The Apex have a little "smoother" feel on solid hits and they seem to be a little more workable than the xhots. Overall I have been happy with all three sets of irons.

Comments about Callaway Apex Irons 5-PW- w/UST Recoil Graphite Shafts:

Quality and condition were better than I expected. Clubs were longo on the course felt as great as mytrue forged irons. Miss hits were still about 90%. Much better than previous clubs. I am 17 handicap. I thing these irons would be great for Single digit handcaps as well.

As a 68 year old golfer and having played for more than 30 years don't deny yourself the opportunity to play forged clubs. Callaway has found a way to give you a true forged club with the forgiveness found in cast clubs. The new Apex CF 16 irons are easy to hit, forgiving and provide more than ample distance.

Comments about Callaway Apex Irons 5-PW- w/UST Recoil Graphite Shafts:

I have played with Apex irons for the past year while returning from wrist surgery and injuring the other wrist in early summer. They have allowed me to maintain a higher trajectory and greater distance than my old irons. In using them I realized that they actually perform better for me with the Decade MultiCompound Platinum Series grips from Golf Pride. However, the Callaway standard grips are also excellent grips. As a 73 year old with surgically repaired left wrist and surgery needed for the left elbow and right wrist due to a recent injury these iros allowed me to lower my handicap by 3 stokes.

Comments about Callaway Apex Irons 5-PW- w/UST Recoil Graphite Shafts:

2015 Apex irons are fantastic in every way. Easy to hit, great distance and workability. XP95 shafts are a perfect match for these clubs. Good feel and mis hits are not heavily penalized. I would suggest to add about 2 degrees of loft to every iron. Unless you have tour average club head speeds the stronger lofts in the long irons make it difficult to achieve a high ball trajectory and getting the ball to stop on the greens. Other than that I would recommend these irons over the CF16 (2016) model,

the best irons I've ever played

Comments about Callaway Apex Irons 5-PW- w/UST Recoil Graphite Shafts:

these irons disprove EVERY bad thing you hear about forged irons. They feel GREAT. the softer feel gives you a greater sense of control. With modern technology there is more forgiveness on off center hits .I see no difference between Apex and X hot pro on mishits. but the feel is WAY better. I can't express how happy I am to find the irons for me.
