I have played about 5 different fairway woods in the past year and a half, and this one will finally make me stick with it for a while! The Big Bertha is extremely forgiving, particularly off the toe and low on the face. I am accustomed to these misses causing a screaming hook and a massive loss of distance (respectively), but with this club they are extremely playable. The club is also absurdly long for my swing - in the standard 15* configuration, I hit a drive that rolled out to over 240 yards UPHILL. That is just crazy for a guy who only swings driver about 100 mph! If there are any knocks, they are that the club has quite a long stock shaft, which could reduce accuracy somewhat for certain players (for me it has not proven an issue thus far), and that the feel is more "springy" than "solid", which could turn some folks off. I actually quite like the feel, as it makes me feel like the ball really has some energy - plus, it is accompanied by one of the best sounds for a fairway wood I've ever heard. Also, the club has more of a fade bias in stock configuration - this is very good for me as I tend to hook the ball, but for someone who has trouble with slices the could be problematic. The adjustability should save you here though. All in all an excellent club! Highly recommended for most all swings. If you have trouble elevating the ball though, the Big Bertha V Series may be a better choice, as it launches the ball a little higher in it's stock configuration.

My only complaint is the paint. The paint on the 3 wood head is chipping. I've never had this happen before, I have covers for all my clubs and use them religiously. I'm not doing anything different but the blue paint is chipping. I am hitting it straighter and I like the feel of the club

Comments about Callaway Mens Big Bertha Fairway Wood:

I have been carrying a 5 wood for as long as I can remember, because it just seemed to be the common makeup of a standard set. Over the last couple of year I have also bought a few of the hybrids and am torn between the two types. I have a tendency to hit my ball trajectory with more of a penetrating flight. Never to high, probably from always playing in the wind. The 5 wood for me seems to be a lot higher than the hybrids but it lands softer and seems to go about 10 yards farther. For me, I hit it about 225 yards, maybe a little farther if I jump on it. The hybrids I trust more and hit them a lot on short par 4's. I also have the Big Bertha Driver and the 3 wood that I absolutely love. Both are long and feel great so I decided to buy the 5 wood to complete the set. I was afraid that since they are a couple of years out, I may not be able to find one in good condition. I constantly swap the 5W and the 3H depending on the course and the wind conditions. Its a great club and feels the same as the 3W. I recommend this club if you need to hit the ball higher. I like the ability to adjust the loft and lye.

Comments about Callaway Mens Big Bertha Fairway Wood:

This club replaced the last non-Callaway club in my bag - an old Titleist 3 wood that performed well for years. With the same shaft as my BB Alpha, I was immediately comfortable with the feel of the swing. Trajectory is perfect with a great sound off the face and a wind piercing ball flight. Already taking consistent aim at par 5's I never reached before. Swinging smooth and letting the club do the work is the way to go. Shaping seems to be easier too when trying to maneuver shorter dog leg par 4's. Only regret is not getting this club in my bag sooner.

Comments about Callaway Mens Big Bertha Fairway Wood:

Recently purchased this 3 wood because Ive gone to all A Flex shafts in my bag. Just like the XR's & V Series clubs I brought this Big Bertha model has not disappointed. As a matter of fact...the once feared 3 wood is now one of my favorite sticks to grab. It has such a sweet feeling when well struck its almost addictive. I wanted to say one thing about shaft flex and the way the current labels are placed. The industry would do itself and golf in general a BIG favor if it stopped with the "senior" tag. I'm still young by most "senior" standards and do not qualify for discounts at most courses but I have found out by chance really that the traditional "regular" flex shafts were hurting my game. I would bet to wager there are many many 30-40 aged players out there swinging out of their shoes to get anything out of Reg flex shafts just like I was who are just too proud to game "senior" flex shafts even though they could greatly en-power their game. Why not just place color coded stickers on shafts based on swing speed? Much like Ping does with their putters and the arc? Just a thought in the wind....

Comments about Callaway Mens Big Bertha Fairway Wood:

I have always been terrible with fairway irons. But I was having the worst kind of trouble trying to hit a hybrid off the tee so I decided to give this 3 Wood a shot. I have never been good with a three wood before, which is why I haven't had one in my bag for 15 years but my game improvement has forced me into one lately. After purchasing this club, I have no regrets. I have actually been hitting this club better than my driver, straight and in the middle of fairways. Absolutely worth it.

As have gotten into 60's need a little more help and hitting long irons getting harder. So bought the 7 an have turned back loft to 20* with draw and can hit this 190-195 most of time from fairway or rough- great club.
