What is dexterity?
Your dominant hand when playing golf influences which club you should purchase. Typically, a right-hand dominant player will hold a golf club with their right hand below their left on the grip. A left-hand dominant player will place their left hand lower than their right. There is no right or wrong here, but it's important to use the swing that feels most natural and comfortable for you.
For reference, consider how you swing a baseball bat or a hockey stick. Your golf swing will likely align with the same side. If you're unsure or need additional assistance before making a purchase, visit a store and one of our Pros will help you select the right club.

What is loft?
Loft affects trajectory and spin rate and therefor it determines the distance the ball will travel. More loft typically generates a higher trajectory and more spin while lower loft causes the ball to fly lower and spin less.

When selecting a golf shaft, it is important to consider the material and weight of the shaft you are selecting.
Shafts are commonly made of steel or graphite. Steel shafts tend to offer more control and durability, making them ideal for players with faster swings. Graphite shafts are lighter and more flexible, helping players with slower swing speeds generate more distance.
Graphite shafts are used on all club types (drivers, fairway woods, hybrids, irons, wedges, & putters).
Steel shafts are typically used on irons, wedges, and putters.
The weight of the golf shaft affects swing speed and feel or the club. Lighter shafts can increase swing speed which may help generate more distance (for players with lower swing speeds), while heavier shafts offer more control and stability (for higher swing speed players). Shaft weights can vary anywhere from 35 grams up to 130 grams due to swing patterns and physiques.

Flex is one of the most common terms used when talking about shafts. It refers to the shaft’s ability to bend during the swing. A stiffer flex will usually send the ball on a lower flight path, while the most flexible (or senior) flex level sends the ball higher.
It is also important to identify your swing speed when choosing the right flex. Players with faster swing speeds typically benefit from a stiffer shaft to provide more control and accuracy. Golfers with slower swing speeds benefit with a more flexible/lighter weight shaft as they offer increased distance.

Pro T-1 White Satin Wedge w/ Steel Shaft
What is bounce?
Bounce is the angle between the leading edge of the club's sole and the ground when in a neutral position. Bounce helps prevent your club from digging into the turf or sand as you take a swing. It is designed to help the club bounce off the surface for cleaner shots in difficult positions.
Low Bounce (0° to 6°): Designed for firmer turf or sand conditions and players with shallow or sweeping swings. Low bounce wedges tend to dig into the ground more easily, so they’re great for precise, clean strikes but less forgiving on soft surfaces.
Mid Bounce (7° to 10°): Offers a balance between versatility and forgiveness, making it suitable for a variety of playing conditions. Mid-bounce clubs work well for players with a neutral swing style and for different types of lies.
High Bounce (10° to 14°+): Ideal for softer turf or sand, and for players with steeper, more aggressive swings. High bounce helps prevent the club from digging too deeply into the ground, making it easier to recover from fluffy lies or bunkers.

Sole grinds are the shape and contouring of the club's sole that affects how the club interacts with the turf or sand. Each club manufacturer produces their own versions of each sole grind, but it is important to keep in mind that certain grinds work better based on your swing. Players with a more sweeping motion (shallow angle of attack) generally benefit from lower bounce or versatile grinds that allow the club to slide under the ball with less digging. Players who have a steeper swing path (taking larger divots) should look for higher bounce grinds which prevent the club from digging too deep into the ground.
