Gary Player’s 1974 Masters victory was a memorable moment in his remarkable career. The year prior, Player missed the Masters while recovering from surgery, which ended up being his only Augusta tournament missed for over 50 years. After missing the 1973 Masters, Player had to prove to the world that he would return even stronger. Player was sure to do so in his return to Augusta. Player kept himself in the running, shooting a 71 in the first and second rounds. He impressively shot a 66 in the third round to jump into a tie for second place at eight under par. In his final round, he shot a 70 to finish ten under par and claim his second Masters Championship.
